I don't post on here often but I do tend to read a lot especially when I'm looking for advice. Well it's paid off and I've won both my most recent battles with officialdom.

The first was probably the most straightforward they refused to even allocate my son a social worker never mind assess his needs for direct payments so I emailed them a complaint outlining their responsibility to at least assess.  Within 2 days of sending the email I had a social worker and this week I've been offered 6 hours a week in direct payments term time and 8 in the holidays.

The next one was a bit harder, we are trying to move into a house that better meets my sons needs currently we are in a town house with the only changing place on the top floor and he smears so you can imagine what fun 2 flights of stairs can be with a stinky child who doesn't want to walk.

The OT we were referred to said all his needs were behavioural and  therefore didn't meet the criteria for support until I again sent an email to ask how a child with a behavioural disability was going to be supported as we couldn't carry on as we were and suddenly I have a housing needs assessment that outlines very clearly all his needs including his behavioural ones. Now we just have to find a suitable house.

The wealth of information on this forum is brilliant so I don't often have to post because there's usually an answer to my question somewhere.
