We were told last Friday that our son's tribunal will be this Friday. The solicitor we have used has said he won't be there to represent us, despite us requesting months ago for a quote with costs for him attending, now he hasn't time as his diary is full. We requested an adjournment as we sourced a private EP to assess our son, something the solicitor said he was sorting out last August and never did, we are unlikely to get the report in time, even if we do the tribunal will probably not accept it with being "late evidence".
On top of this, our solicitor hasn't sorted out any witnesses for us for the tribunal, again despite him having months to do so, and names to contact. The one person he did ask, he only told this week about the tribunal and they now cannot attend due to short notice. The lack of notice has also left us in an awkward situation as our son finishes school at lunchtime every Friday and we have no childcare. Tribunal have refused to adjourn stating we have had 20 weeks to gather all our evidence and to arrange childcare. In reality we were given 7 days and the solicitor didn't do so many things, meaning we have had to try and do them ourselves with little time left.

We are feeling unbelievably stressed right now, we have no pack, no working document, no witnesses and no legal representation for on the day, we will have no support at all on the day, we have no idea what to expect other than have the LA walk all over us. There may have initially been 20 weeks, but as we passed all information to the solicitor to deal with, it has only become apparent this last few weeks that he's done hardly any of the things which should have been done or requested to do. He hasn't even given us the address, so other than the city, we have no idea where we're supposed to be! We feel very let down by the solicitor and now, with having no legal person at the tribunal with us, feel like we don't stand a chance of arguing anything. It seems highly unlikely we will win this tribunal, we have put so much into this and spent hours over months, sifting through documents and typing things up, for what seems like nothing. Parts 2 and 3 of the statement are wrong and we want a place in a non-maintained school. No matter what the private EP report states, because we have no witnesses, we have nobody to back us up and it will be incredibly difficult to justify the 20k per year cost more than the local special school is, even though the local special school won't meet all his needs and isn't specialist.

It is like we're being thrown into the lions den and the whole thing is a nightmare :(
