Disabled schoolboy wins right to guitar lessons

Inclusion should not end with the school bell.

After School Clubs are always a huge problem for LE mostly because of his coordination difficulties so there are very limited Clubs he can actually join but also because at the end of the school day all 'support' seems to disappear.

His LSA doesn't work afternoons and the Class Teacher is busy loading her class onto the school bus so this leaves LE unsupervised.

LE was desperate to join the After School Tennis Club and he started on Thursday. I spent the whole day worrying how he would cope, changing into his PE kit himself, finding where the After School Club was etc but luckily enough there were a couple of other children in his class who were also in the Club so he managed to follow their lead and managed ok.

I did feel it was 'lucky' though that it all went smoothly, could have easily gone the other way.

Very interesting article.

Thanks for posting. I wonder if there is a similar requirement in England and Wales?
