ASDFriendly will be ten years old on April Fool's Day 2013.

We aren't going to let that pass us by without celebrating.

I've booked dinner, bed and breakfast for us at Durham Castle.

Price: £40 per person
Date: Saturday 6th April 2013.

There will be no speeches. There will be no workshops, seminars, lectures, group discussions or dramas. Please don't bring your children unless they are over 18 and can buy a round and carry you home.

After dinner we will stroll into the beautiful city of Durham for a tipple and a boogie.

The castle is a short walk from Durham station, which is 2hrs 45mins from London Kings Cross, no changes.

If you want to come, post your name on this thread. Final numbers will be taken in the New Year of 2013, when a deadline will be set for payment - no payment, no booking. Please let us know if your booking is definite or provisional.

Some nice virtual tours of the castle here:

I know it's a fair way north, but it's a spectacular venue and for only £40 for dinner, B&B, it's a really good deal. Plus direct train from London...

:)

Will I have to wear long johns as I am a soft southerner?

I only worked out today that ASDF is a line from the qwerty keyboard!

Durham in early April? Could be anything between T-shirt weather and knee deep in snow. But most likely to be delightfully "bracing".

Treat it like anywhere else in England a month earlier.

If you want to blend in with the natives, beachwear is de rigueur (a commonly used Geordie phrase) for a Saturday night out.

Mr O and I, please. We'll call it provisional because it's so far ahead, but I expect that'll become definite!
