Having had experience of placing our sons in residential we are appalled at the lack of information available and consideration of the family as a whole in the process. We are not the only ones if you consider this report from 2001 https://www.jrf.org....and-experiences
Nothing seems to have changed for the better, and our experience is that things are slowly changing for the worse. Residential placements are difficult, and it's necessary to weigh up the pros and cons, something which is almost impossible without enough relevant information.
Overall I am sorry that we had to have experience of residential placement, but grateful for the opportunities and success the school has enabled. Where the young people are failed is as they get older, and start to want to become more independent.
